Townsquare Media has flipped Classic Rock “K-Rock 101.7” KLTD Temple/Killeen TX to Regional Mexican “La Grande 101.7“.
The move gives the Killeen/Temple market its only Spanish language station as the audience was previously served by stations in the adjacent Austin and Waco markets. The flip was first indicated in our 4/22 Domain Insight.
KLTD had flipped from Classic Hits to Classic Rock in June 2017 as part of a group deal to bring the regionally syndicated “Walton & Johnson” morning show back to the market. Producer Ken Webster Jr. rose to co-host alongside Steve Johnson following the 2019 death of John Walton. The remainder of the station consisted of out of market voicetrackers.
KLTD had a 2.2 share in the Fall 2020 Nielsen Audio ratings, placing it well behind iHeartMedia Rock “107.3 The Fox” KLFX’s 4.1 share.
