After leaving the “Stryker & Klein” morning show at Audacy’s 106.7 KROQ last June, Ted Stryker is jumping to iHeartMedia’s “Alt 98.7” KYSR Los Angeles to co-host afternoons with Chris Booker.
Stryker spent 22 years at the CBS Radio turned Audacy Los Angeles cluster mostly with KROQ, but also briefly hosting afternoons at CHR “97.1 Amp Radio” KAMP-FM after its launch in 2009/10. He spent much of his KROQ run in afternoons, but had moved to mornings woth Kevin Klein in March 2020 following the departure of longtime morning host Kevin Ryder and co-hosts Jensen Karp and Allie MacKay. He also co-hosted the syndicated Loveline with Dr. Drew Pinsky from 2006 to 2009 and served as the on-screen DJ for Ellen Degeneres talk show in 2007 and 2008. Stryker also hosts Compass Media Networks’ syndicated Out of Order countdown show and his “Tuna On Toast” podcast.
Chris Booker had joined KYSR in January 2021. He spent ten years in Los Angeles hosting afternoons at KAMP from 2009 to 2019 and a few months in mornings prior to exiting in April 2020. He joined KYSR after just three months in afternoons at Audacy Alternative “Alt 92.3” WNYL New York.
The new “Booker & Stryker” show will go head-to-head with the pair of former KROQ hosts in afternoons on Meruelo Media Rock 95.5 KLOS, where Kevin Ryder joined Doug ‘Sluggo’ Roberts last February.
iHeartMedia Los Angeles’ ALT 98.7, LA’s New Alternative, announced today that beloved Los Angeles radio personality Stryker is returning to the LA airwaves to team up with Booker as part of Alt 98.7’s new Afternoon Drive show, “ALT Afternoons with Booker and Stryker,” weekdays from 3 to 7 p.m. starting today.
“ALT Afternoons with Booker and Stryker” promises to be unique in every way. Think: Conversations between friends that you’d hear at a bar, caught on tape and released for public ridicule…but live. Two local guys pulling the curtain back on their everyday life, mixed with Alternative musicology and discovery.
“Stryker and I have a 20-year history working together, and I’m so excited to be reunited with him! Stryker was born and raised in LA, and for 22 years he was a mainstay on Los Angeles Alt-rock station KROQ. He has extensive TV credits including hosting series on MTV, VH-1, Spike TV and the DJ and man-on-the-streets for the “Ellen DeGeneres Show.” He has also hosted Dick Clark Productions Red Carpet Shows for the American Music Awards, the Billboard Music Awards, and has been the backstage host of the Grammys, to name a few. In addition, he is currently the star of his own podcast “Tuna on Toast,” where he interviews famous musical artists and entertainers for a deep dive on their careers, lives and current projects as well as host of the syndicated radio show “Out of Order with Stryker.”

Chris Booker, also an acclaimed TV/radio personality and popular podcaster, has hosted afternoons at Alt 98.7 since January 2021.
