With Lotus Sports “ESPN Tucson” 1490 KFFN Tucson set to lose sole possession of the 104.9 frequency utilized by its translator 104.9 K285DL Tucson due to the move of KZLZ Inc.’s 104.9 KWCX-FM Willcox AZ to Tanque Verde and into the Tucson market, the companies have come to a deal to satisfy both parties.
Lotus will acquire KZLZ Inc.’s 103.3 K277CV Tucson (with a CP to relocate to 93.3) for $200,000. KZLZ Inc. will then acquire K285DL for $1. K277CV will rebroadcast KFFN, giving the station a stronger FM signal in the market.
KZLZ is bound by the agreement to limit the operators that it could transfer the tower lease of K285DL to religious groups. Lotus has the right to reacquire K285DL up until the first anniversary of the closing for $100,000 as long as it can relocate it to another frequency to not interfere with KWCX-FM. After the one year anniversary, KZLZ can sell the two signals together during that period with Lotus’ consent and without it afterwards.
