Paul Cavenaugh Joins Legends 100.3

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
February 9, 2023

Legends 100.3 WLML West Palm BeachRobinson Entertainment Adult Standards “Legends 100.3” WLML-FM Lake Park/West Palm Beach FL has announced the addition of Paul Cavenaugh to the station as morning and afternoon traffic reporter.

Cavenaugh previously spent 24 years as airborne traffic reporter for 1290 WJNO and 97.9 WRMF West Palm Beach from 1984 to 2008 after previous stints in Buffalo NY and Miami. Following a helicopter crash, he retired and spent time in the Bahamas and Florida Keys until returning to the area in 2021.

Cavenaugh will be heard during Angela Manfredi and Steve Ketelaar’s morning show from 6-9am and with Taylor Morgan from 4-6pm weekdays.

Dick Robinson, Founder of Legends 100.3FM, today announced the radio station’s addition of legendary broadcaster Paul Cavenaugh, who will be joining the station for morning-drive and afternoon-drive traffic reports starting Monday, February 13.

“Whether it is during Legends Mornings with Angela and Steve from 6 am to 9 am, or during Afternoons with Taylor between 4 pm and 6 pm, Paul will keep our listeners fully informed about road-closings, major vehicle tie-ups, and other behind-the-wheel nuisances that plague—and occasionally even endanger—drivers on I-95 and other major traffic thoroughfares in our South Florida broadcasting area,” says Robinson.

Born and raised in New York, Cavenaugh’s passion for broadcasting began while in high school and intensified when he landed a weekend gig at Buffalo’s legendary WKBW Radio. Because he loved boats and hated the harsh Buffalo winters, Canenaugh moved to Florida and joined West Palm’s WJNO radio as the afternoon DJ in December 1976, followed by stops as a news anchor at Miami’s WGBS and Studio 107. In 1984, he returned to WJNO and WRMF as Palm Beach County’s first airborne traffic reporter—a gig that lasted almost 25 years.

In spite of surviving a serious helicopter crash in 1988, Cavenaugh continued his “Yellowcopter” traffic updates until being sidelined by another crash in 2008. This prompted him to retire aboard his boat PIZZAZ and spend several summers in the Bahamas and the Keys, and in 2017 he did Half-a-Loop, a 45-day boat trip from Chicago through the Great Lakes and back down to South Florida. He finally moved ashore in 2021.

“I am delighted to be joining such remarkable talents as Angela Manfredi and Steve Ketelaar in the mornings and Taylor Morgan every afternoon, where I promise to keep our Legends listeners fully informed so they can safely and conveniently avoid any irritating, time-delaying traffic obstacles,” says Cavenaugh.
