After nearly three years as Executive Producer and co-host of The Angi Taylor Show at iHeartMedia’s “Rock 95.5” WCHI-FM Chicago, Abe Kanan has departed the station as they were unable to come to terms on a contract extension.
Kanan joined WCHI-FM in October 2020 when the station launched its on-air lineup beyond Taylor. Kanan previously spent ten months in mornings at Cumulus Media Rock “X93.9” WNDX Indianapolis in 2019/20 and also hosted weekends/fill-ins at Alternative 101.1 WKQX Chicago before being a victim of the company’s COVID related cuts. He also previously worked at WLUP Chicago, WIIL Kenosha WI, WDYL Richmond, WBGG Miami and hosted a weekly show on SiriusXM’s “Howard 101”.
In a statement he shared across social media, Kanan wrote, “After negotiating with Rock 95.5, we could not come to an agreement on a new contract. I loved every minute of working at this station and with Angi. Angi is the best. There are too many people to mention, but I worked with many wonderful people. Our listeners are amazing. Thanks for spending your mornings with me for the past three years. Thank you to everyone. My compliments.”
