Pamal Broadcasting flipped Alternative “Alt 104.9” WINU Altamont/Albany NY to Classic Country “Big Country” on Monday afternoon.
With the flip at 5pm, WINU began simulcasting 1230 WMML/97.9 W250CC Glens Falls, which itself had moved to those signals from 107.1 WKBE Corinth back in March. The move creates an Albany market flanker to sister “100.9/107.1 The Cat” WKLI-FM Albany/WKBE Corinth against Townsquare Media’s 107.7 WGNA-FM.
The Alternative format registered a mere 0.5 share in the August 2023 Nielsen Audio ratings. WKLI-FM’s 3.6 share trailed WGNA-FM’s 6.0, which was tied for first in the market with Pamal CHR “Fly 92.3” WFLY.
After signing off with Portugal, The Man’s “Live In The Moment“, the first hour of “Big Country 104.9” featured:

As an Albany resident, im absolutely gutted that they flipped to country. We already have like 10 Country stations on air, why take away the one station for Alternative? Pardon the pun but there is literally no alternative station on the airwaves.
I get low ratings will change whats going on but like… was I accounted for in those ratings? Are people even able to have a say? I guess Im stuck listening to Spotify every commute now, or worse… downloading iHeart and listening to another towns Alt music.
