After 25 years with the company and eighteen in Houston, Terri Thomas is exiting Radio One at the end of the week.
Thomas has served as Operations Manager of the Houston cluster since 2005 and Program Director of Gospel “Praise 92.1” KROI, Hip Hop “97.9 The Box” KBXX, and Adult R&B “Majic 102.1” KMJQ. Prior to Houston, she spent six year at “101.1 The Wiz” WIZF Cincinnati as APD/MD/midday host and later Program Director. The Boston native has also worked at WFXE Columbus GA and WHBX Tallhassee FL and with Radio One held interim roles overseeing stations in Charlotte and Indianapolis.

Terri has been with the company for a total of 25 years, taking over the reigns in Houston in 2005 (moving from WIZF, Cincinnati). As a Boston native, over the years Houston has become a second home. Prior to that Terri was at WEXE, WHBX and during her tenure in Houston she also covered the Indianapolis and Charlotte clusters for a time.

Identifying, cultivating and coaching great teams, while super-serving our listeners, clients, city and each other have been the cornerstone of my success. I’m grateful for the many opportunities over the years with Radio One to see that philosophy play out in real time. I would like to thank Ms. Hughes, Alfred Liggins and the entire Radio One family for entrusting me to captain the Houston market thru strong and difficult times that we have won and overcome together. From the pain of a city under water during Hurricane Harvey to pivoting thru a global pandemic we have conquered many obstacles together.”
Fitting to play within the Radio One name and from her favorite movie, Drumline, Terri’s motto to her team has always been, “One Band. One Sound”, meaning that no matter what role you play on the team we are one and when one of us wins, we all win!
