Adams Radio Group flipped “Kool Oldies 106.1” WQTL Tallahassee FL to Rhythmic AC “Vibe 106.1” at noon today.

Positioning as “Tallahassee’s Hip Hop & Throwbacks”, the new brand will focus on Classic Hip Hop of the 1990s and 2000s with core artists listed as including Lil Wayne, Usher, Ludacris, and The Notorious B.I.G. The station will feature Compass Media Networks’ DeDe In The Morning and Baka Boyz Daily in afternoons. Twiggins, Program Director/afternoon host of sister CHR “Hot 104.9” WHTF, will add programming duties for WQTL.

The new format will position itself between Cumulus Media’s market leading duo of Adult R&B “96.1 Jamz” WHBX and Hip Hop “Blazin 102.3” WWLD, which held a 11.1 and 10.2 share respectively in the Spring 2023 Nielsen Audio ratings. The market also includes iHeartMedia’s “105.3 The Beat” W287CO/WGMY-HD2’s with a 3.8 share and Florida A&M University’s “Flava 90.5” with a 3.4 share.

The Vibe launched with Notorious B.I.G. “Hypnotize”, T-Pain ft. Yung Joc “Buy U A Drank”, DMX “Party Up”, and Drake “In My Feelings”.

groundbreaking transformation. Vibe 106.1 is set to redefine the airwaves with an exclusive focus on

Launching December 26, at 12 noon, VIBE 106.1 is a rhythmic AC format that will be the go-to
