Visual content for radio service provider Quu has released the first In-Vehicle Visuals Report spotlighting radio features in the top 100 best-selling new vehicles in the U.S.
The report also includes a database with vehicle data with a rundown of dashboard features such as whether a car has a dedicated radio button, HD Radio, and various data services.
Along with the data, Quu will hold a webinar on Wednesday, April 10 at 3pm Eastern discussing the state of in-car entertainment and visuals, how radio fits into the modern vehicle dashboard, and advice to stay dominant in-dash.
Quu’s report states six key findings from the data:
- AM/FM radio is ubiquitous in new vehicles.
- AM/FM radio no longer has a dashboard monopoly.
- A growing number of vehicles offer built-in streaming apps.
- Two out of three new vehicles have HD Radio installed.
- GM vehicles are an exception to the widespread adoption of HD Radio.
- All new vehicles have in-dash text. Most can display logos and other images.
Doug Hyde, who was commissioned by Quu to audit the in-dash systems for the 100 vehicles stated, “The data tells a story of radio’s ubiquitous presence in the car, but also details the inclusion of other audio sources. Each automaker takes a different approach to their entertainment system and radio now has the data to see trends and develop strategies.”
