WCDY Moves From CHR To AC

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
August 11, 2024

107.9 WCDY Cadillac Dom TheodoreDom and Jennifer Theodore’s Up North Radio flipped CHR “107.9 CDY” WCDY McBain/Cadillac MI from CHR to AC on Friday, August 9.

The flip took place at 5pm after five hours of stunting with various genres. The new format retains the “107.9 CDY” branding and now positions as “”Cadillac’s Best Mix”. Rich Spicer remains as morning host and Scotty Gunther in afternoons.

Owner/General Manager Jennifer Theodore stated, “The new sound of 107.9 CDY, along with Classic Rock sister station 107.1 The Drive, is the the perfect pair to reach adult Men and Women in the US 131 corridor from US 10 to Grand Traverse County. This was a totally unserved market in our area, and we are thrilled with the positive response so far. This change, combined with Classic Hits WBZX, B-103.9 in Big Rapids, makes Up North Radio the only group in the US 131 corridor with reach from the north suburbs of Grand Rapids, to southern Grand Traverse County, giving advertisers one-stop shopping.”

B-103.9’s over-the-air signal reaches “the north suburbs of Grand Rapids” ?

Give me a break. I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale.

Their 50 dBu contour barely clips the far NE edge of Kent County, which is rural, not suburban.

For Cadillac, the format change at WCDY makes great sense. The area has been without an AC station for several years. CHR can still be found at WJZQ locally.
