Max Media’s “Fox Sports 1310/100.9” WGH/W265EF Newport News/Norfolk VA has announced the return of ‘Johnny D’ DeCandido to host mornings.
DeCandido previously hosted mornings on WGH in the 1990s before stints at Sports Fan Radio Network in Las Vegas and “1700 The Fan” WAFN Miami. He would return to Norfolk to program and host afternoons on Red Zebra Broadcasting’s “102.1 The Game” WXTG-FM from 2009 to 2013. WGH had been carrying Fox Sports Radio’s “2 Pros & A Cup of Joe” in mornings.
DeCandido commented, “Returning to where it all started with The Morning Drive on Fox Sports 1310 AM is an absolute thrill. The passion, opinions, and lively interaction that Hampton Roads sports fans bring to the airwaves are unmatched. I’m truly blessed to provide the listeners with a new home to express their love for the game.”
Brand Manager Dino Franza added, “We’re so excited to introduce a new live and local morning show, which will complement the great national shows heard on Fox Sports 1310 AM and 100.9 FM. The Morning Drive with Johnny D will give us the market’s only local morning sports talk radio show. Johnny D was heard on The Score 1310 AM in the 90’s, so it’s somewhat of a homecoming for him. He knows the Hampton Roads market and will be a nice lead-in to the Dan Patrick Show and The Herd with Colin Cowherd.”
Max Media also operates “Priority Auto Sports Radio 94.1” WVSP in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach market.
