Reno Media Group has promoted Bill Schulz to Vice President of Programming.
Schulz, who previously served as Operations Manager also hosts mornings on Hot AC “Alice 96.5” KLCA.
Reno Media Group President Tom Quinn commented, “Bill was a very young man when he moved here 28 years ago to become co-host of the morning show on KODS, then called Oldies 104 and now known as 103.7 The River. Bill later became program director of 96.5 Alice and operations manager for our entire radio group. I would never have imagined back in 1996 that Bill would become so key and essential to our company. His vision, creativity, love of Northern Nevada and devotion to public service have helped mold Reno Media Group into one of the most successful broadcast businesses in the western United States.
Vice President/General Manager Kara Brown added that Schulz is a “true broadcast professional” who has “definitely earned this promotion. After all of these years, Bill still gets to work by 5 a.m. to host the Alice morning show along with co-host J-Lynn and then puts on his executive hat to supervise our program directors and oversee our technical operations. The hard work by Bill and our programming team has led our company to ratings dominance in the Reno, Carson and the Lake Tahoe area,” Brown explained. “We have 246,000 weekly listeners, the #1 and #2 ranked stations among adults in Northern Nevada and one of our Spanish-language stations is tops with Spanish speaking listeners.””
Schulz said, “We’re beginning 2025 with plans for new products and creative ways to help the community. I thank Kara and Tom for their continued confidence in me and I’m excited by this promotion.”
