Two of the people affected by Thursday’s Audacy layoffs were back at the company the following day.
News/Talk 830 WCCO Minneapolis reversed course and reinstated evening host Henry Lake and producer/co-host Chris Tubbs after first stating that the station would be eliminating all local programming after 6pm outside of Minnesota Twins baseball. In a memo obtained by BringMeTheNews, the company told local staffers the duo “will continue in their roles on WCCO Radio.”
On-air Lake said, “We know that there were some national layoffs yesterday, and I want to note that because we know that industries all over the country are going through some rough times—and radio is not immune to that. I’ve got colleagues in other markets that unfortunately lost their jobs, and for a short time yesterday, it looked like me and Chris were in that same situation.”
Lake originally joined WCCO in March 2022 to host from 9pm to 1am and moved up to the earlier slot a few months later. He previously spent time as midday co-host at “610 Sports” KCSP Kansas City and nights at iHeartMedia’s “100.3 KFAN” KFXN-FM Minneapolis. Tubbs has been with the station since 2019 after previously hosting Sports shows in Great Bend KS and Sioux Falls SD plus stints doing Minneapolis area college and high school sports play-by-play and as a producer for Learfield Sports.
