Usher Media will pay $2.15 million for the five NRG Media stations in Omaha.
Usher Media began operating the stations via LMA on Monday, February 2. NRG also will receive $1.2 million for 101.9 KOOO La Vista.
Original Report 2/2: In addition to selling Classic Alternative “101.9 The Keg” KOOO La Vista/Omaha NE to Nebraska Public Media, NRG Media is selling the remainder of its Omaha cluster to Alan Usher’s Usher Media for an undisclosed amount.
Usher Media, which agreed to acquire NRG Media’s Grand Island/Kearney NE cluster in November, will purchase NRG’s five other Omaha stations: Hot AC “Sweet 98.5” KQKQ-FM Council Bluffs IA, Rhythmic CHR “Power 106.9” KOPW Plattsmouth, “Yacht Rock 1180” KZOT Bellevue, News/Talk 1290 KOIL Omaha, and Sports “1620 The Zone” KOZN Bellevue.
Usher, who previously served as CEO of Grand Island based GI Family Radio, commented, “This acquisition is a statement of belief in Omaha and in Nebraska. Local radio matters. Local leadership matters. We are committed to building a broadcast presence that reflects the strength of this community and delivers real value to the businesses and people who call it home.”
NRG Media CEO Mary Quass said, “We have had a wonderful partnership with Omaha and are
happy that Alan Usher and his group will continue that relationship.”
