Beasley Brings Bilingual AC To Las Vegas

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
April 1, 2025

105.7 Maxima Jammin KOAS Las VegasBeasley Media Group has jumped on the growing Bilingual AC trend as it flipped Adult R&B “Jammin 105.7” KOAS Dolan Springs AZ/Las Vegas to the format as “105.7 Maxima“.

Positioning as “Para Nosotros”, the station is featuring a mix of Spanish and English pop hits from the 1980 through early 2000s with Spanish language hosts and imaging. Core artists include: Whitney Houston, Marco Antonio Solis, Madonna, Lionel Richie, Selena, Michael Jackson, Shakira, Alejandro Fernandez, and Celine Dion.

Beasley Chief Content Officer Justin Chase said, “This is an exciting new format for Beasley that was custom designed for the unique bilingual audience in Las Vegas. With the positioning statement as ‘Para Nosotros’ (translation “For Us”), we are proud to be a new part of the Hispanic community in Las Vegas!”

Vice President/Cluster Manager Ronnie Glover said, “Las Vegas is one of the most culturally rich and dynamic markets in the country. 105.7 Maxima is designed to reflect the heartbeat of this community by delivering a music experience that resonates deeply with bilingual and bicultural audiences.”

Beasley Las Vegas Operations Manager Cat Thomas added, “This really speaks to the expanding audience in Las Vegas. Maxima 105.7 is a reflection of our growing culture and provides a unique entertainment option for our community.”

The new format launched at 12pm today with Backstreet Boys “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)”, Avril Lavigne “Complicated”, Guns N Roses “Sweet Child of Mine”, and Selena “Como la Flor”. The new format creates a flanker to sister Classic Hits 96.3 KKLZ against iHeartMedia’s market leading AC “Sunny 106.5” KSNE. KSNE led the market with a 9.2 share in the February 2025 Nielsen Audio ratings with KKLZ second at a 6.4. KOAS was 20th with a 1.7 share.

Funny, I just came across an article I wrote from 1993 (!) about how well KCEP did with Adult R&B and the reluctance of a commercial station to enter the format. The difference between then and now is how much the KCEP model (willing non-comm with a commitment lacking elsewhere) applies to multiple formats–Triple-A, Classical, and more.
