Original Report 6/25: JVC Broadcasting is expanding in Florida’s panhandle with the purchase of Magic Broadcasting’s four stations in Panama City.
JVC will acquire Rock “97X” WYYX Bonifay, Classic Country “Wild Willy 100.1” WWLY Panama City Beach, Conservative Talk “News Talk 101” 101.1 WYOO Springfield, and CHR “Island 106” 105.9 WILN Panama City. JVC owns stations in Fort Walton Beach, Gainesville/Ocala, and Long Island NY.
John Griffo, Market Manager for JVC Fort Walton Beach will add oversight of Panama City. He said, “This is an exciting new chapter for JVC and for radio in Northwest Florida. We don’t see it as just expanding- we see it as an opportunity to continue what we have already been doing in the Panhandle: focusing on the local listener being the true client by bringing high quality, engaging and fresh programming ideas to Panama City. I can’t wait to get started.”
JVC Fort Walton Beach Director of Programming Matt Stone will oversee programming. He said, “We’ve been doing it differently and local in Fort Walton, and now we’re bringing that same vibe to Panama City. We’re out to make radio fun again—live, local, and actually about the people who live here in PCB. Not just noise… get ready for something that hits home.”
This acquisition aligns with JVC Broadcasting’s continued growth strategy—prioritizing markets where local radio can thrive and where there’s a demand for authentic, personality-driven broadcasting.”
JVC President/CEO John Caracciolo commented, “This isn’t a corporate merger. This is a local broadcaster investing in local communities. We believe in radio that serves the neighborhoods we live in, not just the bottom line.”
Magic Broadcasting retains Conservative Talk “Real Talk 93.3” WVFT Gretna/Tallahassee.
