iHeartMedia Classic Rock “Big 105.9” WBGG-FM Fort Lauderdale/Miami has announced a new five-year contract extension with morning host Paul Castronovo.
Castronovo has been a staple in the Miami market since 1990 when he and ‘Young Ron’ Brewer took over mornings at 103.5 WSHE. They would move to “Zeta 94.9” WZTA in 1995 and then to WBGG-FM in 2004. Following Brewer’s retirement in 2016, the show was rebranded as “The Paul Castronovo Show”. After starting his career at the University of Florida’s “Rock 104” WRUF Gainesville, Castronovo worked at Rock stations including an earlier run at WSHE, WHTQ Orlando, WZZR Birmingham, and WGFX Nashville.
Castronovo said, “iHeart just signed me on for another five years. Either they really love me—or they lost a bet. Honestly, I’ve got the best job in South Florida. Every morning, I get to laugh with my friends—and they actually pay me for it! This new deal will mark 47 years of doing radio in South Florida and that’s just wild.”
iHeartMedia Miami Market President Shari Gonzalez commented, “Paul brings a distinctive mix of personality and an authentic community connection that truly resonates with his loyal listeners and advertisers. We’re thrilled to have Paul continue his incredible radio run in Miami and keep his iconic morning show on Big 105.9 for years to come.”
