Bonneville News/Talk 92.3 KTAR-FM Glendale/Phoenix AZ is revamping its afternoon lineup as Chris Merrill is departing the station for what he described as a “once in a lifetime opportunity”.
Late afternoon show “Outspoken with Bruce & Gaydos” hosted by Bruce St. James and Larry Gaydos will move up from 4-7pm to 2-6pm. The station says, “The change will help position KTAR News’ marquee afternoon drive show during a pivotal election year in front of larger audiences, bringing the hosts’ signature blend of bold opinions, sharp analysis and lively debate to the heart of the drive‑time lineup. Outspoken will continue to push the conversation forward with exclusive guests and the Faceoff roundtable conversation every Wednesday.”
Joe Huizenga, who currently hosts “The Chris & Joe Show” with Merrill from 2-4pm, will co-anchor the relaunched “Arizona’s Evening News” from 6-7pm with Becky Lynn.
Merrill originally joined KTAR as a fill-in host in September 2020 with he and Huizenga debuting in the 2-4pm timeslot in January 2024. He previously hosted afternoons at iHeartMedia’s 550 KFYI Phoenix from 2014-17 and had runs in nights, mornings, and middays at KOGO San Diego and middays at KMBZ Kansas City.
The remainder of KTAR’s lineup remains in-tact with “Arizona’s Morning News” from 5-8am, Mike Broomhead from 8am-12pm, Dave Ramsey Show from 12-2pm and 10-11pm, The Chad Benson Show from 7-10pm, and Red Eye Radio overnight.
