iHeartMedia has announced it will upgrade the FM signal of Sports 620 WDAE St. Petersburg from 95.3 W237CW Pinellas Park to 95.7 WRUB Clearwater on Monday, February 23.
The move gives WDAE a 100kW FM signal to pair with its AM on 620 as it continues to serve as the play-by-play home of MLB’s Tampa Bay Rays and University of Florida basketball and football. Program Director Nick Wize said, “I am beyond excited for Tampa Bay sports fans. This is a championship market, and we’re delivering a strong, engaging lineup that brings fans closer to the teams and conversations they care about most.”
Market President Russell Robertson said, “Expanding WDAE’s heritage brand strengthens our long-standing broadcast and marketing partnerships with the Tampa Bay Rays, Buccaneers, Lightning, Florida Gators and USF Bulls. This evolution also reflects our continued commitment to serving Tampa Bay listeners across multiple platforms.”
The move brings a full-powered FM Sports station to Tampa for the first time since CBS’ short-lived”98.7 The Fan” WHFS-FM was sold to Beasley and flipped to Rock in 2014.
The Spanish CHR brand currently known as “Rumba 95.7” will move to 95.3 W237CW and 102.9 W275AZ Tampa, which currently simulcasts Classic Hip Hop “106.5 The Beat” WBTP Sarasota.
SVP/Programming PJ Gonzalez said, “Rumba 95.3 and 102.9 will continue to deliver a vibrant, high-energy music mix tailored to Tampa Bay’s Latino community. With Enrique Santos anchoring mornings, along with standout local talent including Sarykarmen Rivera and Flip Rios, Rumba offers engaging entertainment throughout the day for Spanish-speaking listeners.”
WDAE had a 2.2 share in the Holiday 2025 Nielsen Audio ratings. WRUB had a 2.1 share, which was the highest of the three Spanish Tropical FMs in the market leading Beasley Media Group’s “92.5 Maxima” WYUU’s 1.8 share and SBS’ “El Zol 97.1” WSUN’s 1.7 share.
