Latino 102.7 24/7 Comedy Funny K274AX AustinEmmis has flipped “Comedy 102.7” K274AX Austin to Spanish CHR “Latino 102.7“.

The translator was one of the first terrestrial outlets to pick up the Comedy format and in the process was one of the highest rated translator fed HD signals in the nation, with a 2.1 share in last month’s PPMs. The Comedy format debuted in October 2011.

The station lists Pitbull, Shakira, Maná, Romeo Santos, Prince Royce, Camila, Rihanna, will.i.am, Swedish House Mafia as core artists for the new format which pairs the station with sister Regional Mexican “107.1 La Z” KLZT in Emmis’ cluster. With the format change, the translator shifts its originating feed from 93.3 KGSR-HD3 to 107.1 KLZT-HD2.

The press release announcing the launch of “Latino 102.7” follows:
Emmis launches Spanish-language, Contemporary Hit Music Radio Station

Latino 102.7 KLZT HD-2 makes its broadcast debut in Austin today at 12 noon, as the city’s first Spanish-language radio station focused on contemporary hit music.

The station will feature a diverse mix of Top 40, Rhythmic, Dance and Spanish Pop artists such as Pitbull, Romeo Santos, Prince Royce, Don Omar, Wisin Y Yandel, Mana, Camila, Chino Y Nacho, Aventura, Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, Swedish House Mafia, Lady Gaga, and many more.

Latino 102.7 Program Director, Armando Ulloa “El Chiquilin” notes, “Austin’s vibrant and bilingual Latino population continues to grow and set the trends for the marketplace. We’re proud to bring Latino 102.7 to the Austin community and to fulfill an unmet need of providing today’s biggest hits, with deep local connections, and soon-to-be announced local personalities that are on the cutting edge of pop culture in Central Texas.”

The station will celebrate its launch by playing 10,000 songs in-a-row, without commercials. Listeners may experience the station over the air at 102.7FM, or listen online at http://www.Latino1027.com or via TuneIn on their mobile device.

Amando Ulloa further comments, “We have created the perfect mix of hit music and a fresh production and imaging presentation provided by The Mix Group, with Jerry Pulles, a Mix Talent as the voice. We encourage Spanish and English hit music fans in Central Texas and around the world to tune in and enjoy Latino 102.7.”

Emmis Austin Radio now owns and operates seven uniquely Austin radio stations including 93.3 KGSR, 93.7 KLBJ, 101X, Latino 102.7, 103.5 BOB-FM , 107.1 La Z, and Newsradio KLBJ 590AM & 99.7FM. Emmis also offers three more locally-programmed HD Radio music channels in Austin: heavy metal “No Control Radio” at 93.3 HD-3, dance MEGA at 103.5 HD-2 and 22 years of KGSR live performances “The Music Lounge” at 93.3 HD-2.
