Citing inability to sell advertising, Craig Hanson’s Media Advisors LLC. has flipped Alternative “X98.9” KRQX-FM Hurricane/St. George, UT to Classic Hits.
The station is now presenting itself by its frequency and call letters “98.9 KRQX” branded as “Southern Utah’s Greatest Hits”. Canyon Media’s 101.5 KCLS had been using that branding until it shifted to Soft AC “Easy 101.5” last month.
Hanson, the former President of Simmons Media, took over operations of KRQX, in which he holds a minority ownership stake via LMA when he purchased sister Adult CHR “Mix 103.1” KURR Hildale from Simmons earlier this year. KRQX launched its Alternative format in 2010 duplicating the sound of sister “X96” KXRK Salt Lake City.
