Domain Insight 3/9: Alpha Prepping Brand Consolidation In Chicago Suburbs?

[membership level="2,3"] Following the cuts of ten on-air staffers from Alpha Media's suburban Chicago stations earlier this week, sources indicate that the company is preparing to consolidate some of the brands utilized in the region. Alpha currently has three Hot AC stations that circle Chicago's northern and western suburbs in " Star 96.7 " WSSR Joliet, " Star 105.5 " WZSR Woodstock and " 102.3 XLC " WXLC Waukegan. Prior to the cuts, only one host was shared between any of the three with WSSR's morning co-host Hannah Brummer also tracking afternoons on WXLC. We've been told that the stations will soon roll-out new lineups that will feature much of the same talent across the three. Between WZSR morning hosts Joe Cicero and Tina Bree and WSSR morning hosts Eddie Volkman and the aforementioned Brummer, we're told one pair will be heard in mornings and the other in afternoons. Why is this in a Domain Insight report? Last month we noted on an anonymous registration of MyStar1023.com . With WSSR and WZSR already utilizing the " Star " brand, it is now expected WXLC will follow suit. What we do not know yet is will this be a straight trimulcast with just separate spotbreaks, or will the programming simply be shadow casted with the same hosts in the all or some of the same dayparts, but different music logs.
