Updated 3/7 with more names: Alpha Media has made a round of cuts at its clusters surrounding Chicago. Sources indicate that ten staffers have been let go between the stations.
At Hot AC 102.3 WXLC Waukegan IL, morning host Wes McKane and PD/midday host Frank Wright have announced their departures.
McKane joined WXLC in January 2019 after previously hosting mornings at Audacy CHR “103.7 Kiss-FM” WXSS from 2004-2015 and Hot AC “99.1 The Mix” WMYX Milwaukee from 2015-2017.
Wright had been with WXLC since 2002. He rose to Content Director in January 2019 when McKane joined the station.
DJ Clinto departs afternoons at Hot AC “Star 105.5” WZSR Woodstock IL. Clinto had been with the company in multiple roles since starting as an intern in 2011.
Veteran rock talent Mitch Michaels exits Classic Rock “95.9 The River” WERV-FM Aurora IL. After beginning his career with stints at WHFS Washington DC and WMMS Cleveland, Michaels has been in Chicago and its suburbs since 1971 with stints at 102.7 WGLD, 93.1 WXRT, 94.7 WDAI, 101.1 WKQX, 97.9 WLUP, 105.9 WCKG, 890 WLS, 94.7 WXCD, 99.9 WRZA, and 100.7 WRXC before joining WERV in 2011.
Stino Cirigliano is out as morning co-host at Rock “95 WIIL Rock” WIIL Union Grove WI. Cirigliano returned to WIIL in August 2021 as morning co-host as previously serving as afternoon host from January 2018 until 2020. She has previously hosted afternoons at “100.3 The X” KQXR Boise and nights at “96 K-Rock” WRXK Fort Myers after starting her career at “103.9 The Fox” WFXF Dundee IL. Her co-host Tom Kief discussed the cuts on the air on Tuesday.
Anthony ‘Antone’ Koris departs as APD/MD/afternoon host at Hot AC “Star 96.7” WSSR Joliet. Koris had moved to WSSR from the same role at sister Country 98.3 WCCQ last June. He has also worked at WERV, CHR “100.7 The Bus” WBVS, and Hubbard Hot AC “101.9 The Mix” WTMX Chicago.
Dawn Avello departs afternoons at “Q-Rock 100.7” WRXQ Coal City/Joliet. Avello had been with the station since 2011 and has also worked at WKSM Fort Walton Beach FL, WSMD/WMDM Mechanicsville MD, and WUBE Cincinnati.
Morning co-host Bill Lawrence and 3-5pm host Lou Rugani depart News/Talk 1050 WLIP Kenosha WI. Lawrence’s co-host Pete Serzant will continue hosting “Wake Up Kenosha” from 5-8am. The syndicated Markley, Van Camp & Robbins is added for 2-5pm to replace Rugani and cut an hour from the midday “Happenings Q & A w/Frank & Kim Carmichael”, which will now run from 12-2pm.
