While Corus will launch this brand to comply with following the withdrawl of their requests to keep Talk on 107.3 CFGQ-FM Calgary. iHeart has registered another " Retro " domain for its Bilingual Classic Hits brand with Retro979.com likely for use at the Orlando market 810 WRSO Orlovista/97.9 W250CE Kissimmee. WRSO had flipped from Spanish News/Talk “ Acción " to Fox Sports Radio in February despite much of the lineup being duplicated on sister " 96.9 The Game " 740 WYGM. The 97.9 translator covers the southern part of the Orlando market. iHeart has registered a set of domains for potential use at Spanish CHR " Tu 94.9 " WZTU Miami Beach or its HD2. The company has registered LaMezcla949.com , LaMezcla949Miami.com , LaMezcla949HD2.com , and LaMezclaMiami.com likely tied to the " La Mezcla Fuego " mixshow by WZTU morning show mixer Xavier 'DJ Xtreme' Figueroa. WZTU-HD2 is currently a simulcast of " Fox Sports 940 " WINZ. In January 2023 , Corus Entertainment flipped Classic Rock " Q107 " CFGQ-FM Calgary to a simulcast of News/Talk " QR 77 " 770 CHQR. The company did so prior to seeking CRTC approval for a modification of its license to allow for mostly spoken word content and replacing the AM license with a rebroadcaster of the FM. Corus would rescind those applications last month. Corus last month told Broadcast Dialogue , “We can confirm that we were not able to monetize QR on both AM and FM, the way we had hoped. We are committed to continuing to deliver the best news and talk content in Calgary on QR 770AM, and are focused on finding new audiences across streaming and other platforms. Broadcast of QR news and talk content on 107FM will cease by the end of July 2024, and we look forward to bringing a new music station to Calgary in the future.” Corus on Wednesday registered 1073Edge.com . The company operates " 102.1 The Edge " CFNY-FM Toronto with the brand positioning the station between Bell Media Rock " CJAY 92 " CJAY-FM and Harvard Broadcasting Alternative " X92.9 " CFEX-FM.
