Cox Media launched Soft AC “Easy 106.5” WEZI Ponte Vedra Beach at 12pm today after a few hours of stunting with a loop of Commodore’s “Easy”.

Sept. 29, 2015 – This afternoon at 12 p.m. Cox Media Group (CMG) Jacksonville launched the new Easy 106.5 (WEZI). Easy 106.5 will entertain listeners with an Adult Contemporary format featuring core artists like:
Lionel Richie
Elton John
Billy Joel
Air Supply

Original Report 8/28: Following the move of Urban AC “Hot 106.5” WHJX Ponte Vedra Beach/Jacksonville, FL to 99.5 W258CN, Cox Media will likely launch Soft AC “Easy 106.5” on Thursday, October 8.
WHJX has changed its call letters to WEZI and as we reported below Easy1065.com was registered the same day in April as MyHot995.com. A Twitter account with the new logo promoting the October 8 launch is already live.

Original Report 9/23: Cox Media is preparing to launch a new format while moving another in Jacksonville, FL.
With the impending launch of 99.5 W258CN Jacksonville, Cox will move Urban AC “Hot 106.5” WHJX Ponte Vedra Beach to the 99.5 translator. MyHot995.com which was registered anonymously in April was transferred yesterday to Cox’s servers. The 210 watt at 276 meter translator CP was purchased by Cox last December for $350,000 (Coverage Map).
Following the move of Hot to 99.5, Cox will launch Soft AC “Easy 106.5” on WHJX. Easy1065.com was registered the same day as MyHot995.com and a Twitter account is already live with the logo and branding promoting a launch date of Thursday, October 8.
Since the launch of WHJX in May 2013, the station has forced a shift of iHeartMedia’s incumbent Urban AC “V101.5” WSOL-FM to Classic Hip-Hop. A Soft AC on 106.5, which was teased prior to the launch of Hot would take on Renda Broadcasting’s market leading AC 96.1 WEJZ.

WEZI will eventually become Jacksonville’s first choice for workday music. Just fellow sibling stations WDUV & WFEZ (Easy 99.1)-Both stations have really captured their respect markets-In Tampa Bay & Miami, respectively.
