97.3 KCXM Kansas City Flips To K-Love

December 3, 2007

ESPN 97.3 KCXM Kansas City K-Love

After being in the format for only 11 months, Union Broadcasting has dropped the sports format on “ESPN 97.3″ KCXM Lee’s Summit/Kansas City in favor of Contemporary Christian “K-Love” via an LMA with the Educational Media Foundation. EMF is working on finalizing an outright purchase of the station.

The station, originally in Moberly, MO, moved into the Kansas City market as AAA “97.3 The Planet” in 2003. In September 2005, the station flipped to Active Rock with Mancow in the morning as “97.3 Max-FM”. The ESPN format began on January 3 of this year.

K-Love is also heard in the Kansas City market on rimshot 96.1 KLRQ Clinton, MO and 91.9 KWJC Liberty, MO. It is expected that those two stations will flip to EMF’s “Air-1″ Network.

Simmons Media’s 1380 KSLG St. Louis has announced that effective immediately it is dropping its ESPN Radio affiliation for Fox Sports Radio as “Team 1380″. The station is locally programmed from 6am to 7pm daily.

Back in October, crosstown 1190 KRFT announced it would drop its syndicated talk lineup in favor of ESPN Radio.

What’s Coming To 93.3 Jacksonville

December 6, 2007

93.3 The Beat WJBT Jacksonville

On November 6, 93.3 WROO Callahan/Jacksonville, FL dropped its Country format for All-Christmas. It now looks like we know what will head to 93.3 after the holidays.

The image above located at http://www.wjbt.com/cc-common/station_logos/DEV_WJBT-FM.jpg indicates that the Urban format of sister 92.7 WJBT will shift to 93.3. Additionally, 933thebeatjams.com and 933thebeatjamz.com were registered back in July to a Clear Channel employee.

Clear Channel had previously announced it was selling the 92.7 frequency as part of its privatization sale.

Citadel New Orleans Shuffle

December 13, 2007

Martini 106.1 WMTI True Oldies 106.1 New OrleansNew Country 106.7 The Wolf KKND New Orleans

A pair of changes taking place in New Orleans:

106.1 WMTI has dropped its “Martini” name and Modern Standards in favor of Scott Shannon’s True Oldies format.

106.7 KKND could be next in line. The station flipped from a Rock based Country format to New Country earlier this year. Next could be a rebranding as Citadel has registered 1067thewolfnola.com and a few similar domains. Citadel launched “96.9 The Wolf” in Charleston in October as the moniker continues to explode nationwide.

96.7 WLTM Atlanta To Classic Country

December 13, 2007

Lite-FM 96.7 WLTM Atlanta

Atlanta southern rimshot 96.7 WLTM Peachtree City, which picked up its current “Lite-FM” AC format when sister 94.9 dropped it in favor of Country last December looks to be following in its footsteps. Clear Channel has registered 967thelegend.com which points to wltm2-ip.clearchannel.com. WLTM is currently airing all-Christmas music so a flip should happen right after the holidays (or before like 94.9 last year).

Louisville Move-In Debuts

December 13, 2007

Cumulus has completed its move-in of 93.9 WQKC Sellersberg, IN to the Louisville market as it launches as Sports “93.9 The Ticket”. The station had been located at 93.7 in Seymour, IN (halfway between Louisville and Indianapolis) prior to its move-in.

106.7 Columbus Launch Imminent

December 13, 2007

Radio 106.7 WMRN-FM Dublin Columbus

Update 12/13: As we expected last month, adult leaning Modern Rocker “Radio 106.7” debuted at 12pm with Elvis Costello’s “Radio Radio”.

Update 12/6: Add one more domain to the list: sportstalk1067.com. We’ve also heard that the official format will launch Thursday, December 13 at 12pm.

Update 11/21: All of the domains that were pointing to the staging site now have an “Under Construction” image appearing with one little caveat. The two spanish domains have the image stating “En Construccion”. All the domains are still pointing to the same server and either image can be accessed on any of the active domains.

Original Post 11/12: Columbus, OH should see a new city-grade FM launch this week as 106.9 WMRN-FM Marion moves to 106.7 in Dublin, OH. WMRN’s country format has already moved to sister 94.3 WDIF.

What format will 106.7 have? Clear Channel has registered a number of domains this week for the new station.

  • 1067jamscolumbus.com
  • 1067jamzcolumbus.com
  • 1067thebuzz.com
  • blink1067.com
  • fresh1067columbus.com
  • movin1067columbus.com
  • my1067columbus.com
  • radio1067.com
  • rumba1067.com
  • snap1067.com
  • viva1067.com
  • A few of the domains we can eliminate from contention right away. 1067thebuzz.com and blink1067.com are the only ones that are not pointing to Clear Channel’s staging site for the new station: http://cmh1-ip.clearchannel.com/. Fresh, Movin, and Snap can be eliminated they seem to be there as a play on Saga Communications registering those names for the frequencies of all of its AC competitors in the market. But most importantly, many of the links on the staging site redirect automatically to radio1067.com. That would seem to indicate the Adult targetted Alternative format that Clear Channel has recently launched in Cincinnati (more Modern AC oriented), Philadelphia, Hartford, and Los Angeles among others.
