Clear Channel Classic Hits “Magic 105.3” WVMA Norfolk, VA becomes the third CHR in the Tidewater as it becomes “The New 105.3“.

Running with 10,000 songs commercial free, the station is pitted up against Entercom’s “Z104” WNVZ and Max Media’s “Hot 100.5” WVHT along with two Hot AC’s for similar demographics. The Hot AC’s are Clear Channel’s Rhythmic AC “Movin 107.7” WMOV-FM, Entercom Hot AC “94.9 The Point” WPTE. (We originally had Sinclair’s “96X” listed as Modern AC in this entry. They had shifted back to Alternative a few months ago)

WVMA had been battling Max Media’s “92.9 The Wave” WVBW for the Classic Hits audience. In the February PPM’s, Magic 105.3’s 4.4 share was well behind 92.9’s 5.8.
