Clear Channel has returned the Classic Rock “Planet” brand to Richmond, VA.
106.9 W295BF Midlothian, which Clear Channel purchased from Liberty University of $50,000 in March, has completed its upgrade from 10 to 145 watts with a relocation to 96.1. At 12pm today the stations launched as Classic Rock “96.1 The Planet“. The station’s website shows that it will feature the syndicated Bob & Tom in the morning and the Premium Choice lineup of Classic Rock jocks the rest of the day.
The new format will flank sister Modern Rock “XL 102” WRXL against Cox’ Mainstream Rock “Rock 96.5” WKLR. It was WKLR that previously used the “Planet” moniker during its Classic Rock phase from 1997 until 2008.
