93.7 Familia FM Debuts In Seattle

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
June 23, 2014

Familia FM FamiliaFM 93.7 KLSY Montesano Seattle Tacoma KANYUpdate 6/23: Centro Familiar Cristiano is converting its LMA of 93.7 KANY Montesano into an outright purchase. JOSH Broadcasting will receive $6,750,000 for the station.

Original Report 5/14: The move of Country “Bigfoot 93.7” KANY Montesano to 107.3 Cosmopolis/Aberdeen and a brief stunting period as “The Birds” has given way to Spanish Christian “93.7 Familia FM“.

After a call letter swap with 107.3, 93.7 KLSY is targeting the Seattle/Tacoma market with the programming from the Seattle based Centro Familiar Cristiano’s network. KLSY joins 90.5 KGIO Astoria, OR, 90.1 K211ET Astoria, 91.5 KEJI Darrington, 91.5 K218CU Delphi, and 99.5 K258BJ Everett in the “Familia FM” network.

KANY is a Class C0 with 33kW at 677 meters (and a CP to slightly adjust it to 32kW at 679 meters). KANY puts a near city grade signal through the southern and western portions of the Seattle market with its 60dBu countour running right through downtown Seattle.

Seattle doesn’t have much latino population. Even they have a locally produce Spanish newscast provided by KOMO-TV on Univision, and a rim-shot FM Regional Mexican station and rimshot am station. I can’t picture Seattle Metro area to support Spanish language stations vs Yakima, California or Texas.

Good luck to JOSH Broadcasting! I don’t know how Centro Familiar Cristiano can pay $56,960.34 a month when they struggle to make payments of few thousand every month.
