Cumulus Media is completing its exit from Louisville as it sells 93.9 WLCL Sellersburg, IN to UB Louisville for $3,138,000.
Union currently owns Sports “ESPN Louisville” 680 WHBE Newburg/105.7 WHBE-FM Eminence in the market and this acquisition gives the company a city-grade signal to bring the programming to FM throughout the market. Union will begin operating the currently silent WLCL under an LMA before the sale closes. Union Broadcasting also owns a pair of AM’s in Kansas City.
The sale ends the odd run of Cumulus in Louisville, who acquired the stations as part of its purchase of Susquehanna Radio in 2006. In August 2010, Cumulus took WLCL and then sister 1450 WQKC dark as it shut down its business operations in the market. WQKC would be sold, while WLCL was leased to Way Media until April of this year. Once the LMA ended the station once again went dark.
