As expected when Cumulus Media announced the launch of the “Nash Icon” Country brand in May, Westwood One has begun making the brand available to non-Cumulus stations across the country.
Describing the brand as “a current-based music mix with a superstar library based in the late ’80s, ’90s and early 2000s. It is produced on Westwood One’s WWO-Local platform, providing you with a flexible clock, and localized content. As a branded format, NASH Icon provides a host of merchandising and marketing elements, all designed to tie your station tightly to the host of high-profile events and media presence. Most importantly, NASH Icon is already winning, showing great success in Nashville, where it has become the most-listened-to country station.”
The national Nash Icon lineup includes the staff of 95.5 WSM-FM Nashville pulling double duty. Marty McFly in mornings, Lisa Manning middays, Scott Gaines afternoons, and Darlas Rai in evenings.
The network has gained one of its first affiliates in Ocean City, MD where 101.1 WRYD Spring Hill is now “101 Nash Icon“. The station had most recently been Alternative “101.1 The Ryde“, which now slides down to 1590 WIJK Ocean City/105.1 W286BB Ocean Pines. Skip Dixon is serving as PD/local midday host on the Ocean City version of “Nash Icon“.
