Update 4:30pm: KLZR ended its brief all Lady Gaga stunt and relaunched as “105.9 Kiss-FM” at 3:00pm. The station is launching with 105 hours commercial free.
The syndicated Kidd Kraddick remains in mornings. Amber Lee, PD at sister “Bull 92.9” KMXN takes middays. Beth B, who had been on middays at KLZR takes that shift at 92.9 as “Lady B”. Freaky Dave, PD and morning host at sister “Magic 98.5” WGIC Cookeville, TN moves to KLZR to Program and host afternoons.
Original Report 12:30pm: Great Plains Media Adult CHR “Lazer 105.9” KLZR Lawrence, KS is stunting with nonstop Lady Gaga as it prepares for a rebranding.
The stunt’s context is being delivered via a Youtube video in which a Gaga fan has taken station GM Jay Wachs hostage until he plays 105 hours commercial free.
Whenever the stunting stops the station will relaunch as CHR “105.9 Kiss-FM“. A Twitter account for the new station is already active and we caught a glimpse of the station’s Facebook page before it went private with the new on-air lineup featuring Kidd Kraddick remaining in mornings, and a few personalities from sister “Magic 98.5” WGIC Cookeville, TN pulling double duty.
1059KissFM.com and Kiss1059.com were both registered by Clear Channel on December 19, but are now pointing to the Intertech Media servers used by Great Plains Media.
KLZR serves Lawrence, including the University of Kansas, Topeka, and the western suburbs of Kansas City. The Lazer name dates back to the early 1980’s as the station evolved over time from Rock to Alternative to CHR to Hot AC.
