Domain Insight 8/26: More Louisville Changes On-Deck?

[membership level="2,3"] Earlier this week we reported on potential changes coming to at least two of iHeartMedia's Louisville KY stations. Now Alpha Media is getting in the act, with registrations for multiple potential brands tied to what is now Variety Hits " 102.3 Jack-FM " WXMA Louisville. Domains were registered for 1023DJX.com , 1023TheMax.com , 1023TheRose.com , and 1023WLRS.com . We can likely rule out the first one as there are not many scenarios where Alpha would move CHR 99.7 WDJX from its Class B signal to WXMA's Class A signal. " 102.3 The Max " would point to a return to the former Hot AC brand utilized by the station from 2002 until 2017. " 102.3 The Rose " would seemingly indicate an AC or Soft AC brand to fill the vacancy in the market created by SummitMedia's shift of 106.9 WVEZ to Hot AC " Mix 106.9 " last year. WLRS points to the heritage calls of the 102.3 signal under multiple formats but best known as a Rocker from 1964 to 2000 and then utilized by sister 105.1 until 2013. Those calls are now in place elsewhere in the Louisville market on New Albany Broadcasting Company's Regional Mexican " Poder 101.9 " 1570 WLRS New Albany IN. Alpha flipped WXMA from Hot AC to Variety Hits five years ago next week . It has since gained a direct format competitor in iHeartMedia's " 100.5 FM " WSDF. In the July Nielsen Audio ratings, WXMA ranked thirteenth in the market with a 2.3 share and WSDF was right behind it with a 1.8 share. Both were well behind W&B Broadcasting's Classic Hits WAKY on its multiple signals that placed second with 6.2 share. [/membership]
