A little over a month after exiting mornings at Cox Media Group Hot AC “Hits 105.3” KSMG Seguin/San Antonio, Tony Cortez is returning to the cluster to host mornings at Classic Hits 101.1 KONO-FM.
Debuting on Monday, December 30, Cortez fills the vacancy in the KONO-FM lineup created by the retirement of Music Director and midday host Steve Casanova. Tory Christopher will move from mornings into Casanova’s midday slot.
Cortez has spent the majority of his career in San Antonio with time at CHR “Mix 96.1” KXXM and Tejano 107.5 KXTN-FM before a seven year run as APD/afternoon host at Alpha Media CHR “Energy 94.1” KTFM from 2011-18. He joined KSMG in May 2019 as evening host before moving up to afternoons and then hosting mornings with Jenny Lee from December 2020 through its rebranding from “Magic 105.3” to “Hits 105.3” last December until exiting in early November. He has also worked at KHFI-FM Austin.
