After a career in Sports radio, Rich Herrera is joining Audacy News/Talk 1140/96.1 WRVA Richmond VA as morning host.
Herrera most recently was Head of Marketing for CBD firm Charlotte’s Web and a weekend host for Audacy’s Infinity Sports Radio. He previously programmed and hosted afternoons at Cumulus’ “Wildcats Radio 1290” KCUB Tucson from 2020-22 and APD for Audacy Sports “97.3 The Fan” KWFN San Diego and Senior Executive Producer and pre and post-game show host for the San Diego Padres radio network from 2016-20. Herrera has also hosted pre and post-game shows for the Tampa Bay Rays and hosted at WHFS Tampa, KMOX St. Louis, WAXY Miami and SiriusXM’s MLB Network Radio.
He commented, “I’m thrilled to join the WRVA team, a legendary station with a great lineup of hosts and shows. After meeting with Bennett Zier and Zach McHugh and getting the chance to host Richmond’s Morning News, I fell in love with the station. My family is excited to make Richmond our home. I want to thank Chris Oliviero and Jeff Sottolano for their support and mentorship, as well as Drew Anderssen, our Format Vice President, who encouraged me a year ago to transition from sports talk to general news.”
Audacy Virginia President Bennett Zier said, “Rich brings an authentic voice to the morning airwaves and a strong commitment to his community. His sharp analysis and ability to engage listeners in meaningful and entertaining conversation make him a valuable addition to the WRVA team. We’re excited to welcome Rich and continue delivering the news that matters most to our community.”
Herrera fills the morning slot that had been held by John Reid until his resignation in late January to run for Lt. Governor of Virginia.
