Cumulus Media VP/Programming Operations Doug Hamand will retire from the company at the end of June.
Hamand joined Cumulus in January 2016 after a 21 year run at Clear Channel/iHeartMedia where he held OM and programming roles in multiple markets including Lexington KY, Birmingham AL, and a decade in Tampa.
Hamand shared his announcement on Facebook, “I’ve had a ball. It’s hard to believe that when I started 48 years ago, this day would ever comebut here we are. I’m excited to share that I will be retiring at the end of June. After 21 years with Jacor/Clear Channel/iHeart-where I had the opportunity to serve in a variety of programming leadership roles, including a long run in Tampa/St. Petersburg and the past 10½ years with Cumulus as Vice President of Programming Operations, it’s time for me to change the channel. Along the way, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to work with some of the most talented, creative, and driven people in this business. Watching so many of you grow, succeed, and go on to do big things has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career. I’ve also been lucky to help support great teams across markets, working together to build brands, win ratings, and drive results. (50% ratings growth in year one at Cumulus, then 36 months in a row of PM growth year over year was so much fun). Radio has given me more than I ever could have imagined when this journey began nearly five decades ago. But now, while my grandchildren are still at that age where they actually want to spend time with me, it’s time to put family first. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this ride—it’s meant a great deal to me.”
