She is the first Hispanic television judge to cross over from Spanish-language television to English-language television, and “Cristina’s Court” won three consecutive Emmy Awards in the “Best Legal/Courtroom Program” category, surpassing industry favorites “Judge Judy” and “People’s Court” for the first-ever recognition of its kind in 2008.

At noon, TalkRadio 790 KABC debuts “Dr. Drew Midday Live with Mike Catherwood,” offering LA-area listeners unique access to Dr. Drew’s thoughts on the news of the day and comprehensive insights on a broad range of topics. Listeners will be encouraged to call in on weekdays and take part in the discussion with one of the country’s most trusted physicians and radio and television personalities. Drew’s longtime on-air partner “PSYCHO” Mike Catherwood will bring fun to the festivities.

“Our live, local and topical programming has been incredibly well received by Los Angeles listeners,” said John Dickey, Executive Vice President and co-COO of Cumulus. “We have attracted some of the top talent in the country and continue to bolster the station’s lineup in order to meet the interests of our widening audience.”

“KABC’s goal is to build a radio station that reflects the climate and attitude here,” said Drew Hayes, Operations Director of TalkRadio 790 KABC. “KABC is a sunny and up-tempo station discussing the news of the day, populated with the nation’s leading personalities. With these additions, we have successfully evolved the station to a compelling, entertaining, true Southern California station.”

It’s probably for the best that KABC moved back to the field of general talk in the daytime (although I am surprised that Mark Levin wasn’t dumped as well).

KABC kept Levin because he’s syndicated by Cumulus Media.

And the station also has Los Angeles Kings hockey to build on — they’re the current holders of the Stanley Cup.
