iHeart Launches 93.9 The Beat Honolulu

93.9 The Beat Jamz KHJZ HonoluluiHeartMedia flipped Rhythmic AC “93.9 Jamz” KHJZ Honolulu to Rhythmic CHR “93.9 The Beat” at 9:39am today.

The new format is being branded as “Hawaii’s #1 Hit Music Station” and launching with 4000 songs commercial-free. The launch gives Honolulu its third Rhythmic CHR joining Ohana Broadcast Group’s “102.7 The Bomb” KDDB and SummitMedia’s “Power 104.3” KPHW.

KHJZ registered a 2.6 share in the Spring 2016 Phase 1 Nielsen Audio ratings. KPHW was fourth in the market with a 5.3 share, while KDDB is not listed as a non-subscriber.

iHeartMedia Honolulu kicked off the Labor Day holiday weekend today with the launch of Rhythmic Top 40 station 93.9 The Beat, Hawaii’s No. 1 Hit Music Station.  The new station launched with 4,000 commercial-free songs in a row and a recording of President Obama saying, “Are we ready to go? We got the cue. Alright, drop the Beat.” The station launched today at 9:39 a.m. following a week of special announcements teasing the new radio brand.

The all-new 93.9 The Beat will play popular songs from artists such as Rihanna, Drake, The Chainsmokers, Ariana Grande, DJ Khaled and more.

“Our goal with the launch of 93.9 The Beat is to bring the people of Hawaii a new and exciting hit music station with entertaining personalities, great music and a reflection of everyday life in Honolulu,” said Jamie Hyatt, Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia Honolulu. “We’ve been asking people all over Hawaii for their help in building a new radio station and this is it.”
