L&L Acquires Border Media San Antonio

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
October 14, 2013

Border Media BMP San Antonio 94.1 KTFM 102.7 KJXK Jack 550 KTSA ESPN 1250 KZDCThe selloff of Border Media’s properties has reached its conclusion as the Border Media Business Trust has sold their San Antonio cluster to Larry Wilson’s L&L Broadcasting for $31 Million.

The purchase gives L&L eight stations in San Antonio and 43 total. Involved in the sale are News/Talk 550 KTSA, Sports “ESPN 1250” KZDC, CHR 94.1 KTFM, Regional Mexican “La Ley 95.7” KLEY, Variety Hits “102.7 Jack-FM” KJXK, Spanish Sports 720 KSAH/103.1 KHHL, and Regional Mexican “Norteno 104.1” KSAH-FM. KHHL’s signal is nonexistent in San Antonio proper, while 95.7 and 104.1 rimshot the market from the south.

In 2012 Border Media began its selloff by divesting of its Austin and Rio Grande Valley stations.

KHHL and KSAH-AM have started simulcasting ESPN Deportes back last year while 104.1 remains Regional Mexican “Norteno”. KHHL is off the air 90% anyway, but when it’s on you can actually pick it up somewhat in certain areas of town.
