Longtime Boston and syndicated personality Jackson Blue is stepping away from radio after today.
Blue has been in syndication since 2009, previously hosting “Party Playhouse” and “Celebrity Top Ten”, and currently the daily “Jackson Blue Show” on Hot AC and CHR stations first for United Stations and most recently Radio Resources’ Personality on Demand. Blue has previously held roles including eight years hosting nights at iHeartMedia CHR “Kiss 108” WXKS-FM Boston followed by Music Director at “106.1 Kiss-FM” KHKS Dallas and APD/Morning host at “Z104.3” WZFT Baltimore while at Clear Channel/iHeart. He then joined Beasley Rhythmic AC “Hot 96.9” WBQT Boston in January 2014 and remained at the cluster for a decade first moving to mornings at Country 102.5 WKLB in 2017 and afternoons in 2019.
Blue wrote on October 2, “Yesterday I gave notice to my national radio show. I’ve been nationally syndicated for 19 years. I’ve only taken 2 weeks off the entire time. One about 18 years ago that didn’t go over well at all… and one when I had a surprise major surgery a few years ago. Besides that – 19 years not missing a day. I’ve been so proud of that show… but never wanted to boast about it. I honestly think that hurt it’s growth – but I never had dreams of it being the biggest show in the country or anything. I wanted it to be reliable and good – and I think it almost always was. I’ve really had a strange shift in my brain lately. I think maybe it was preparing for my complete exit from radio. Until recently I never looked back. I never really gave love to the things I’ve done previously because a lot of times that company was now my competition. Also because I’m a hustler and it’s never about what I did – it’s always what I’m doing next. But recently I’ve been enjoying talking about the old times and reminiscing. I’ve shifted to a place where I am so freaking grateful to have had the opportunity to live out what I wanted to do as a kid. And I loved it. I feel like I may go back to radio some day. I love radio so much and always will. But I also don’t know that I ever will go back – and I’m totally at peace.”
