Corpus Christi’s Rig Returns To FM

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
May 20, 2015

06.5 The Shark 94.7 The Rig 1150 Corpus Christi KYRK KBSO KCCT Scott Holt Bogey BroadcastingUpdate 5/20: Resolving whatever issues remained between the companies, Bogey Broadcasting resumed operating 106.5 KYRK Taft/Corpus Christi with the Texas Country “Rig” programming that was moved exclusively to 1150 KCCT earlier this month.

The Alternative format that had been heard on 106.5 until earlier this month remains on The Rig’s previous home of KBSO Corpus Christi as “94.7 The Shark“.

Update 5/4: Bogey Broadcasting owner Scott Holt has contacted us with a clarification.

While the LMA for 106.5 KYRK did come to an end at 2pm Saturday, the company is still under contract to purchase the station and intends to do so.

Original Report 5/3: Bogey Broadcasting has moved its two stations in Corpus Christi, TX.

Alternative “106.5 The Shark” KYRK Taft has shifted its format to 94.7 KBSO Corpus Christi. That in turn moves Texas Country “94.7 The Rig” exclusively to 1150 KCCT Corpus Christi, which had been simulcasting KBSO for the past couple months.

Scott Holt’s Bogey Broadcasting had been operating 106.5 KYRK via LMA from Withers Family Texas Holdings since the station moved into the Corpus Christi market in 2011. Last December, the company filed to acquire KYRK outright for $1,284,000. The sale was approved by the FCC, but has not yet closed. KYRK is currently silent.

Bogey began operating KBSO and KCCT via LMA on January 1 and launched “The Rig” later that month. The Rig’s Facebook page claims that they expect to have the station back on FM within 30-45 days.

Is 1150 still going to the translator at 95.9 FM, as you reported in March? I bet that’d open the door for 1150/95.9 to flip to something different, once this is all completed.

I believe 95.9 is the FM signal The Rig is alluding to.
