iHeartMedia has flipped Rhythmic AC “95.7 Kiss-FM” KSSX Carlsbad/San Diego to Urban leaning Rhythmic CHR “Jam’n 95.7“.
The flip fills the Rhythmic CHR vacancy in the market created by Local Media San Diego’s “Z90” XHITZ’s move to Mainstream CHR a couple years ago. We first reported on the likelihood of this change back in March when iHeart registered Jamn957.com and HipHopSD.com for the station. The station is being programmed by Rob Scorpio, who will retain those duties at sister 99.1 KGGI Riverside as well.
Pablo Sato and Tati formerly of XHITZ and WPGC Washington DC will host mornings. Former KQKS Denver night host Mercedes ‘Cedes’ Howard, who has been filling-in at KSSX will take the midday slot. Frankie V, who previously hosted mornings at sister CHR “Channel 93.3” KHTS-FM and recently exited mornings in Boston will return to the market for afternoons. Beto Perez remains in place at night.
The flip to Rhythmic CHR will flank KHTS-FM against Z90 and CBS’ “Energy 103.7” KEGY. KSSX placed in a 17th place tie with a 2.4 share in the April Nielsen Audio PPM’s.
