Greater Media debuted the new format on 105.1 WMGC-FM at noon today as the station flipped to Classic Hip-Hop “105.1 The Bounce“.
Debuting the new format with the usual 10,000 songs commercial-free, the new format fills a vacancy between the two Urbans, two Urban ACs, two CHRs, and one Hot AC in the market. The station intends to focus on music from the 1990s and 2000s. The station launched with Eminem’s “Real Slim Shady”, Notorious B.I.G’s “Hypnotize” and Mark Morrison’s “Return Of The Mack” as its first three songs.
WMGC-FM will remain the flagship for the NBA’s Detroit Pistons for the 2016-17 season as it runs out its contract with the franchise. The station dropped its nearly three year old Sports format on Wednesday evening.
