After a day and a half of stunting, Townsquare Media has flipped Variety Hits “98.7 Jack-FM” KPRF Amarillo TX to Classic Rock “Lonestar 98.7“.
The flip fills the Classic Rock vacancy in the Amarillo market. Alpha Media’s market leading Classic Hits “100.9 The Eagle” KXGL and Cumulus Media’s Active Rock “Rock 108” 107.9 KZRK were the closest things the market had. KPRF registered a 2.4 share in the Fall 2016 Nielsen Audio ratings, while KXGL led the market with a 13.3 and KZRK held a 5.5 share.
Braden Smith, Brand Manager of Country “101.9 The Bull” KATP will add those duties for KPRF as well.
Original Report 6/28: Townsquare Media has pulled the plug on Variety Hits “98.7 Jack-FM” KPRF Amarillo TX and is currently stunting.
After over a decade under the “Playing What We Want” moniker, the station is offering listeners a chance to “Play What You Want” by making a $5 payment via a purposely never announced phone number with the proceeds going to such charities as buying a new station van. The music is a broad mix of currents and gold from multiple genres with artists heard in the past hour including Chainsmokers, Taco, Ed Sheeran, Ted Nugent, and Thomas Rhett.
KPRF has utilized the “Jack-FM” brand since March 2007.
