KXTG Portland Dismisses Dino Costa

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
August 16, 2017

750 102.9 The Game KXTG Portland Brock Huard Mike Salk ESPN 710 KIRODino Costa’s tenure at Alpha Media Sports “750/102.9 The Game” KXTG Portland lasted longer than his run at KFNS St. Louis last year.

Alpha cut ties with the afternoon host at KXTG after just two months with the station due to multiple offensive comments that drew the ire of MLS’ Portland Timbers and the University of Oregon Ducks, both of whose games air on the station. A transcript of comments made in June leaked on Monday in which he suggested that Black Lives Matter protesters should be run over with cars.

"You know these protests where they shut down the road, they lie in the road? If I'm the cops, I wave the traffic on. Listen, as soon as one or two of these sumbitches are run over you'll see the entire, in unison, everybody be up off the street. When people are being killed by 18-wheel trucks coming by, pickups, cars. Run 'em over!"

An original statement provided to Eugene Weekly by Alpha on Monday said that they were sticking behind Costa and had dealt with the comment when it was first made.

Alpha Media holds the relationships with the Portland Timbers and the University of Oregon in high regard. 750/102.9 The Game management team took immediate and aggressive action with Dino Costa regarding the comment made during his June 7th broadcast.

As backlash built following the events in Charlottesville VA this week, Alpha dismissed Costa earlier today and released the following statement:

After further review, Alpha Media has decided to cut ties with Dino Costa. Additional information is not available at this time.

Costa has also deleted his Twitter account.
