Rocking M Media has closed on its acquisition of Hot AC “Q92” 92.3 KKGQ Newton/Wichita KS and has flipped the station to Texas/Red Dirt Country as “Kansas Country 92.3“.
KKGQ joins a crowded Country market in Wichita that includes Scripps’ market leading 101.3 KFDI-FM and iHeartMedia’s “102.1 The Bull” KZSN on the current end and Scripps’ 1070 KFDI and Connoisseur’s (and soon to be Rocking M’s) “100.5 Hank-FM” KVWF playing Classic Country.
KKGQ’s now defunct Hot AC format registered a 0.7 share in the Spring 2017 Nielsen Audio ratings.
KWLS is also another formidable competitor. While it is a rimshot from the south, it does aggressively target Wichita (even so far as having a sales office there).
