For music fans who thought the music from the ‘90s was totally awesome, locally owned Big Radio is proud to announce Rock County’s newest FM station and format: The Beat 92.3 and 98.9 FM. The new station will launch Monday, October 9th.
Radio dials in the ‘90s were filled with pop, rock, hip hop, and everything in between making it one of the most creative music decades ever. And now, all of that music can be heard again on The Beat, a new format that will make you say, “Wow! I remember that song!” All of the big ‘90s artists like Alanis Morissette, Backstreet Boys, Sugar Ray, No Doubt, TLC, Boys II Men, Gin Blossoms, Nirvana, and others will all be heard in this innovative format. The format’s slogan? “Mostly ‘90s. Totally Awesome!” And it promises to be just that.
The new FM signals are designed to cover Rock County and the surrounding area. 98.9FM will blanket Janesville and northern areas, while 92.3FM will concentrate on Beloit and northern Winnebago County. Owner Ben Thompson states the reason for dual FM signals is “this format is so huge that we need to put it on two FM frequencies. One just couldn’t handle it.”
In addition to the new format is a new on-air line up. The station will feature Micki Morgret in the mornings from 6a-10a, Paul Michaels will cover middays from 10a-2p, Liz Rudolph takes the afternoon reins from 2p-7p, and Wayne “Grizzly” Adams will wrap up your day from 7p-12mid.
