As we first reported as expected to happen in Daily Domains earlier today, iHeartMedia launched Christian AC “Up 98.7” W254AZ Belmont/Charlotte via 99.7 WRFX-HD2 at 3pm today.
W254AZ had been stunting as “Christmas 98.7” since November 1 following the end of Marta Media’s lease of the translator. The new Christian AC format becomes the third format option in the market joining EMF’s “K-Love” on 91.9 WRCM Wingate and Radio Training Network’s “Joy-FM” 96.5 W243BY Charlotte/98.3 W252BU Gastonia.

Positioned as “Charlotte’s Commercial-Free Christmas”, the translator will serve to chip away at Beasley Media AC “K104.7” WKQC once that station makes its annual move to Christmas music.
iHeart had been leasing the translator to Marta Media who operated it as Spanish CHR “Ke Buena 98.7” from August 1, 2016 until yesterday. It previously was Sports “Fox Sports 98.7“.
