West Virginia Radio Corporation has flipped AC “Today’s 97.5” WLTF Martinsburg WV/Hagerstown MD to CHR 97.5 WKMZ.
Positioned as “The Hit Music Channel”, the new format is placing advertising emphasis on the Martinsburg portion of the market. Marco, most recently in mornings at Midwest Family Broadcasting Rhythmic CHR “93.1 Jamz” WJQM Madison WI, will accompany previous WLTF morning host Rona Mensah for “Marco Nation” in mornings. Amy Ryan, Program Director/Midday Host at sister CHR 94.1 WQZK Keyser WV, will host middays for WKMZ as well. Alex Vic, who previously hosted nights at sister “102 WVAQ” Morgantown WV, moves to WKMZ for afternoons.
The WKMZ call letters previously resided on 97.5 from 1981 through 2001 with incarnations as both a Rock station and Top 40. The calls briefly then moved to sister 95.9 in Williamsport MD from 2001 until 2005. The move also gives the market its third Top 40 outlet as it joins VerStandig Broadcasting’s “92.1 Now-FM” WNUZ Mercersburg PA and Alpha Media Rhythmic CHR “Wild 96.7” WDLD Halfway MD.
