97.3 The Rock Channel To Debut In Roanoke

Mel Wheeler Inc. has announced it will launch Classic Rock “97.3 The Rock Channel” on Sunday, December 31 at 12pm.

Airing on 97.3 W247AD Roanoke/92.3 WXLK-HD2, the new station will focus on Rock hits from the 1980s and 1990s including AC/DC, Guns N Roses, Van Halen, and Metallica. The new format will debut with 10,000 songs commercial free. W247AD had been rebroadcasting Sports 610 WPLY Roanoke along with 101.1 W266CY Roanoke and 98.5 W253BT Madison Heights/Lynchburg.

The new format takes on iHeartMedia Rock 96.3 WROV.
